A female minister from the Universal Church presided over the ceremony, and the couple wrote their own vows for the "spiritual" service.

"Justin is one of the most deserving people of happiness and love," Kimberly Caldwell, Guarini's co-host on the TV Guide Network's Idol Tonight, tells PEOPLE. "I know he will be an amazing hubby."

After she made headlines for replacing Paula Abdul on the judges' panel of next season's "American Idol," Ellen DeGeneres is taking on critics who have questioned how qualified she is to judge the hit singing competition.

On Tuesday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the comedienne and talk show host said:

"Apparently, there's a lot of debate going on right now, whether I'm qualified or not to be the new judge on 'American Idol'... I'll tell you right now, how I know I'm going to be a great judge -- because I've spent my whole life being judged. So, I know what it's like. So, I will be kind. I will be compassionate. I will be empathetic, and I will be truthful. I will be an honest judge without being mean.”

Ellen went on to say:

ORANGE, Calif. – Police in Southern California say a man has been arrested for assaulting a security guard who tried to stop him from getting into a car with "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest.

Orange police Sgt. Dan Adams said Thursday that Chidi Benjamin Uzomah Jr. tried to enter Seacrest's vehicle on Tuesday as Seacrest left a charity appearance at Children's Hospital of Orange County.

Adams says security guards tried to stop Uzomah and a scuffle broke out. He says Uzomah is accused of choking one of the guards, who nearly became unconscious.

Adams says Seacrest pulled away and was not involved.

Adams says Uzomah was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to cause great bodily injury. He's expected to be arraigned Friday.

Talking from the red carpet of Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmys in Los Angeles, Lythgoe said though he “loved” having DeGeneres on the Fox dance show (”We hope she will still be able to come and help us out from time to time”) Lythgoe said it would be a “great idea” to have Abdul join the SYTYCD team in the near future. ”I’d prefer Paula,” he said. “I think it is a great idea to put her on.”

Adam Lambert took advantage of his day off from the "American Idols Live" tour on Thursday by staying in Chicago an extra day and having a quiet dinner at SUSHISAMBA rio (504 N Wells).

Unlike the previous night at the Allstate Arena, where fans squealed for the "American Idol" runner-up, Lambert went mostly unnoticed as he dined with his parents and cousin at the River North restaurant. This probably had more to do with the fact that the majority of the people there were hanging out at the bar upstairs and didn't see him.

The group ordered a variety of items off the menu, including Kobe beef empanadas (sounds good), the Shrimp Tempura Roll (sounds healthy) and Unagi Tamago (who?). They saved room for dessert -- keep in mind Lambert is a big dude -- and had chocolate fondue and chocolate banana cake, among other things.

After they were done eating, I caught up with Lambert outside and asked if I could take a picture of him.

"Sure," responded Lambert. "But don't you want to get in the picture?"

Truth be told, I don't love getting in the pictures. And as long as we're being honest, I probably saw one episode of "American Idol" this past season. Still, I got in the picture anyway.

Speaking of "Idol," Anoop Desai was seen eating at Sunda on Thursday while Danny Gokey was spotted at Trump Tower. Allison Iraheta ate at David Burke's Primehouse inside The James Hotel and Scott MacIntyre and Michael Sarver hung out at the hotel's JBar. The Idols stayed at The James on Wednesday and Thursday night.

The next stop on the tour is Madison, WI on Friday.

'Idol' label signs last of top 4, country-leaning Gokey

American Idol's bespectacled third-place finisher, Danny Gokey, has cut a record deal with 19 Recordings/RCA Nashville, marking the first time in the show's history that Idol's recording arm has signed the entire final four.

Contracts for winner Kris Allen, runner-up Adam Lambert and fourth-place finisher Allison Iraheta were announced in June.

"We absolutely love Danny," says Sony Music Nashville chairman Joe Galante, who praises the "soulful edge" in the 29-year-old singer's gravelly voice. "We haven't had anybody like that (in country) since Ronnie Milsap or T. Graham Brown."

Though no producer is attached to Gokey's album yet, he'll go into a Nashville studio shortly after the Idols Live tour ends Sept. 15. Galante expects a single in late fall and an album to follow, most likely in March.

When Gokey was on Idol, "I was so wet behind the ears, I didn't know where I wanted to go," the singer says. "But I most related to the message and the music of country."

Gokey sang three country tunes during his Idol run and is performing Rascal Flatts' What Hurts the Most and My Wish on tour. He counts Wynonna Judd, Alan Jackson and Brooks & Dunn among his favorite country acts.

Idol's track record as a reliable generator of mainstream hits has become more appealing as album sales continue to slide. Eleven Idol alumni now have singles in the top 40 at some radio format, and three —Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry— are among the few acts that have sold more than half a million albums this year.

Any of Season 8's final four could have won, and they all deserve their deals, says music consultant Tom Vickers, a former A&R executive. "Each had the chops, the personality," he says. "Each was distinctly different."

Last week, Allen announced via Twitter that his album would arrive Nov. 17. As he did on the show, Allen could combine blue-eyed soul and singer/songwriter pop on his album, since he's been working with The Fray's Joe King, Mat Kearney and R&B writers Claude Kelly and Salaam Remi.

Release dates for Lambert's and Iraheta's albums are planned for November but have not yet been set. Lambert has promised a mix of glam-rock and dance music in his collaborations with RedOne, Max Martin, Linda Perry and Greg Wells, and the teenage Iraheta aims for an energetic rock sound and writing with Kevin Rudolf and David Hodges.

For "American Idols," competition never ends.

Sure, Kris Allen may have won the TV show back in May over Adam Lambert, but that doesn't mean he no longer has to prove himself.

And at Nassau Coliseum last night, the laid-back Allen showed he has a ways to go before he reaches his potential. (The "Idols" return to the Coliseum for another show tonight.)

Though his likable personality and warm voice came through, his song choices didn't have a lot of flash - Matchbox Twenty's "Bright Lights" isn't exactly a barnburner in the best of circumstances and the dressed-up jazzier version of Kanye West's "Heartless" lost some of its punch.

Lambert, on the other hand, is ready for stardom right now. He injected artistry and even some sexiness into a traditionally straightforward show. His vocal heroics and hip thrusts made Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" a blast, while the Prince-ly take on David Bowie's "Let's Dance" were pretty thrilling.

Both Danny Gokey, with his potent Rascal Flatts ballads, and Allison Iraheta, with her wild rocker girl takes on Pink and Janis Joplin, were predictably strong.

There were some true surprises, though. Anoop Desai's gorgeous take on "Always on My Mind" could have gotten him to the finals. Lil Rounds, who underperformed on the show, was markedly better on Alicia Keys' "No One" and Beyoncé's "Single Ladies," pushing the possibility that she's this year's undiscovered gem, like Jennifer Hudson.

Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for Matt Giraud, who somehow seemed like he was twice his age, doing "Hard to Handle" and Megan Joy Corkery has gotten worse, emphasizing odd syllables and weird notes in Amy Winehouse's "Tears Dry on Their Own."

She serves as reminder that the public spotlight won't be shining on all of them for much longer.

Mary J. Blige Scores Guest Judge Role on 'American Idol'

ET can confirm that singer Mary. J. Blige is the latest star to land a guest-judging role on "American Idol" following Paula Abdul's departure from the show.

Blige will join judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi in Atlanta at auditions for some of next season's "Idol" hopefuls, says People.com.

Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and singer Katy Perry are also set to be guest judges on the show.

Exclusive: It’s official! Oscar winner and “American Idol” star Jennifer Hudson gave birth to a baby boy late yesterday. His name is David Daniel Otunga, Jr., named for his father and Hudson’s fiancee. Hudson tells me he weighed in at seven pounds, fourteen ounces. And Jennifer and David, Sr., by the way, did not know the sex of the baby in advance. They bought blue and pink clothes, just in case!

Hudson’s pregnancy has been an unusual one for a star. For one thing, she never announced it. She simply turned up “showing” at a concert last winter and let the fans speculate for themselves.

Part of this was privacy, some of it was superstition, but most of it had to do with the terrible tragedy she and her family underwent last October. The murders of her mother, brother and nephew were beyond comprehension. But Jennifer, who is basically a positive person, turned lemons into lemonade. She and fiancee Otunga conceived a child soon after the episode.

So many congrats to Jennifer and David Otunga. The other day her recording of “The Star Spangled Banner,” which had been included on the second collection of songs for the Obama inauguration, shuffled up on my Zen XFi (no iPods here). It was magnificent. Hudson has the potential to be the Aretha or Gladys of this generation. And now she’ll be a mom, too.

M.V.: Adam, I would love to hear more about the soundtrack. When will we find out?
Adam: I still can't say anything. It's definitely happening, but it's not my call to be the one making the announcement. Sorry!

Lesley: Allison and Adam, are you guys gonna do a duet together like you did on the show? You guys were amazing!
Adam: It would be fun, but we don't know yet. It's too soon.
Allison: Yeah, it's too early to tell. But it's something we'd like to do. Right now we're focusing on our own albums, which is the main goal, and then we can figure that out later. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Tina: How are the new albums coming along? What's the latest?
Adam: We're kind of looking at everything and kind of hanging on to as much as we can and choosing from there. If we're feeling a song, we'll record it. If we're not feeling it, we don't. We're going to powerhouse it after the tour is over as far as getting songs recorded and writing some new material. We've made a nice big dent in the process, but I think the majority of it will be done afterward.
Allison: I've been going through material on tour. My favorite person to work with is Kevin Rudolf because his energy is great, and he's just a great guy and has already done so much.

Lesley: Adam, is your album gonna have songs like "Whole Lotta Love," "Cryin'," "One" and "Born to be Wild"?
Adam: I don't think that's actually really going to happen. I think the record needs to be new material. I do know we recorded some [of the live material from tour] that will be available on iTunes as a special offer.

Anonymous: Adam and Allison, do you bounce ideas off each other for your albums?
Allison: We definitely do bounce ideas off each other. We're showing each other tracks we have like, "Hey I got this new track. What do you think?"

Laura: For all the Idols, how do you stay healthy on tour?
Allison: I'm really bad at that. I really don't care. I have thought that maybe I should watch what I eat. But I mean, being on the road and having a bunch of crap food around, it's hard not to eat it. I treat myself. If it's been a long day, I think I might just want to stuff my face with some chocolate or something.
Adam: I think the question is: Am I staying healthy on tour? I'm trying. I avoid a lot of the crap food. I have some vitamins I take. I have this stuff that's green powder that you get at Whole Foods. It's called Super Mineral Vida Green. And I've been, like, trying to take that every day in, like, a smoothie to get my vitamins and greens and nutrients and all that, and that kind of helps me feel better.

Katie: Adam, what shoe size do you wear?
Adam: It's like an 11 and a half.

Jane: Allison, what is your favorite Salvadorian food?
Allison: Pupusas, stuffed with different things, are pretty good.

Katy May: Adam, what is your most painful rejection?
Adam: It was probably in the dating world. Going after people and really feeling like there isn't anything there that's being reciprocated. That hurts. That's happened numerous times.

Jun: How do you manage to keep your voice from getting hoarse after such intense performances almost every single night?
Adam: It's definitely a learning experience in trying to learn to pace yourself. I found out that I can't do all the super, superhigh notes every night, or else they won't be there the next night. I'm just trying to learn to pick and choose my moments to really wail.
Allison: I just really hold back on some shows. Having four shows in a row, that's not fun. You want to do your best at the show, but it's really hard when you want to have a good show the next day. So on some days I need to not belt it out as much as I would so I can save my voice for other shows. Some nights I hold back, and other nights I belt it out. Last day of three or four days in a row I belt it out.

Allison: Adam, how do you handle the groupies?
Adam: Every night is such a big event. You have tons of people who are superexcited and passionate, which feels incredible. But at some point, I can only give so much and have enough energy to go out the next day. It really is draining. I'm not complaining about it at all, but it really is. There's a point where you're like, "Wow, I'm exhausted right now. I just gave a show. I met like 200 people and took pictures with everybody. And now I'm out signing autographs and people are, like, screaming insanely." It feels great, but yeah, it takes a chunk out of you.

Shannon: Allison, what is it like having young people look up to you as a role model? (You're my American Idol.)
Allison: I never thought there would be little girls saying, "When I'm older, I want to be like you." It's weird, but it's awesome.

Simon Cowell Finalizing Deal For 3 More Years On "Idol"

In the midst of Abdul's exit reports are now surfacing that indicate Simon Cowell should be on "American Idol" for at least three more seasons.

CKX chairman and CEO Robert Sillerman indicated at the second-quarter earnings call of CKX, parent company of "Idol", that Cowell is finalizing a deal with Fox to return to "Idol" under a new contract.

Season 9 is Cowell's last year under his current contract and Simon has indicated publicly that he might not return to the show.

"We've heard from Fox, who has asked us for approval for Simon Cowell to appear for three more years on 'Idol,'" Sillerman said. "They, in their negotiations with Cowell, have asked us to pre-approve him not only for 'American Idol' '09, which has begun taping, but they have also asked us for approval for '10 and '11, indicating to us that they're finishing their negotiation with Cowell. We did grant approval for that, quite obviously."

While the financial details weren't released Reuters says Cowell is set to bring in $45 million a year with the new contract, up from $36 million a year under his current contract.

Fox declined comment Monday.

Mark Ballas: Just Say No to Paula as Dancing Judge

Mark Ballas wouldn't mind seeing Paula Abdul on Dancing With the Stars—just not as a judge.

"I think we're good with our judges," Ballas told me yesterday at the Teen Choice Awards. "I think she should be on the show as a competitor."

Considering Abdul's dance background, can't she be one of the show's professional dancers?

Nope…

"She can't be a professional because she's not a ballroom or a Latin dancer," Ballas explained. "She'd be great as a competitor. She's a great personality, everybody loves her and she makes great TV."

If the former American Idol judge does end up on the next season of DWTS, producers better make it happen pronto. Ballas said he starts training with his new celebrity partner in two weeks. He insists he doesn't know who he's been paired with.

Shawn Johnson, the Olympic gymnast who won DWTS last season with Ballas, said we'll be seeing her in the audience come season nine.

"I'm gong to be getting the death glare when I walk down the stairs with my new partner," Ballas said.

And speaking of Johnson, I am happy to report that she finally has her repaired disco ball trophy at home after it was damaged shortly after their big win. Johnson beamed, "It's at home on a mantelpiece on display beautifully."

Constantine Maroulis Gets In A Fight Over Paula Abdul

“American Idol” alum Constantine Maroulis, 33, got his butt kicked by an Abdul hater during Casio’s G-Shock party Wednesday night at Cipriani Wall Street.

The partygoer threw punches, pushed Maroulis to the ground and kicked him repeatedly before security guards stepped in. According to witnesses, fisticuffs erupted because Maroulis professed his desire for Abdul’s return to “Idol.” His attacker was more than happy to see her gone.

“It was hilarious! Constantine got into it with this guy who was probably 6 inches shorter and 60 pounds lighter,” laughs an observer. “The guy body-slammed him and punched him in the face and then just stood up, straightened his tie, and said, ‘B—ch, don’t you ever,’ before walking away.”

The attendee adds, “Security didn’t know what to make of this guy. He was so well-groomed in his suit, and he didn’t look like a threat at all. Constantine was so overwhelmed he just sat there on the floor for a few minutes.”

Later, the Tony nominee, who just signed for another year in the Broadway show “Rock of Ages,” tweeted about the incident.

“It broke up quick, didn’t even know him. Or throw one punch. I don’t mind a fight … but only when it’s fair and I’m looking!” wrote the star, adding, “I’m fine! Some drunk dude tackled me in the middle of the concert and jumped on me.”

Maybe hostility was in the air. While Maroulis’ fight transpired, performer Kanye West rapped about his anger over a March arrest for breaking a paparazzo’s camera. West sang, “I have to pay $100,000 to the photographer who said I hurt his arm, but I was just breaking them (bleeping) cameras, I wasn’t trying to do you no harm dude.” He added, “I’m not trying to stop you from getting paid at all, but I feel the pictures you take are trying to make the icons fall.”

Kara DioGuardi Speaks Out About Abdul’s Exit

Kara DioGuardi is still shocked that Paula Abdul has quit American Idol after eight seasons.

“I can’t get over it. I’m completely shocked,” she said on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show Friday. “It’s such a loss for the show, such a loss for the contestants. She’s definitely the heart of the panel.”

“The kind of heart she treated the contestants with she treated me with last year,” said DioGuardi, who added that she was “scared” joining the show last season. “She was so kind to me and made me feel immediately like part of the panel.”

DioGuardi added that she hopes Abdul “will reconsider” her decision to leave.

“I’ve left her a lot of messages. I talked to her last week,” DioGuardi said. “I haven’t spoken to her this week.”

DioGuardi shot down speculation that she was hired last season as an insurance policy against Abdul in case she leaves.

“The way I’m understanding it is that it was her choice to leave,” DioGuardi said of Abdul. “I never was here to replace her. It would be impossible to replace Paula Abdul. She’s an incredible talent. She is somebody who helped make the show as big as it is. How could you ever replace that?”

“If anything, she was really somebody who helped me because it was awkward at times being the fourth person,” she added.

DioGuardi - who is in Denver Friday to begin auditions - said she is excited to return to the show alongside Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson for a second season, calling Idol “an incredible show.”

Said the new judge, “Last year, it was tough at times. Being the new kid, you get beat up a bit. I’m hoping this year that people are more accepting.”

On Thursday, Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice said producers are currently looking for a fourth judge to replace Abdul. (Katy Perry and Victoria Beckham are among the guest judges who have signed on.)

Abdul - who left show because she reportedly she didn’t get her desired $20 million deal - isn’t sweating the fact that she is out of a job.

“At this point, there are so many wonderful things that are being offered to me,” Abdul told the Associated Press Thursday. “And I got to take a deep breath, sleep a little … and go through everything.”

Fox Execs: Paula Will Be Replaced; Guest Judges Scheduled

For all of those who speculated Paula Abdul's twitter resignation was a publicity stunt, today Fox made it quite clear Paula will NOT be back. Fox executives today said, "It's over. No question. It's over." Fox says negotiations are over and they are looking to freshen up the show with this new twist.

Today news is surfacing that guest judges will return to TV's #1 show this season to fill the void left behind by Paula's exit.

People Magazine reports that Victoria Beckham, will join Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi for what her publicist is calling a "one off appearance." Sources say that Beckham will not likely be a permanent add-on to the panel because of the time she spends with her family and working on her fashion line.

E! News reports Katy Perry will also appear behind the judges' desk at least one time this year as a guest judge.

Fox executive Peter Rice spoke today at the Television Critics Association press tour about the judges' contracts. He confirmed Perry and Beckham will be on the show.

Rice also said a permanent replacement for Abdul is in the works. "The four judges were getting in a rhythm last year, and we will probably have four judges back." He continued, "We feel between now and [January] that we will come up with a solution and replacement for Paula. We are looking forward to the season. Obviously, there is going to be a different dynamic. We will be looking to bring a different element and different energy to the season."

The judges will start seeing auditions on August 9th!

Hours after she tweeted to the world that she was leaving "American Idol," Paula Abdul was in discussions this morning for her possible new gig: as a judge and choreographer on "So You Think You Can Dance," which is produced by Nigel Lythgoe, her former boss on "Idol."

Lythgoe took a break from rehearsals for the season finale of "SYTYCD," which airs tonight and Thursday, to discuss Abdul's departure from the Fox show that gave her career a second wind. Abdul, he said, will join him and the other judges this weekend in Las Vegas, where they are filming the final rounds of auditions for the next season of "Dance," to discuss her potential future with the show. Lythgoe was the producer of "Idol" until last season. [Updated at 3:25 p.m.: An earlier version of this post incorrectly said the judges are in Vegas for the final rounds of competition for the next season.]

"We discussed the possibility of her now being available to come on 'So You Think You Can Dance,'" he said. "She's on the East Coast at this moment in time and hopefully we're going to meet this weekend in Vegas. We go out to do our Vegas Week this week and Paula's gonna come out there and we'll sit down and talk about what opportunities are available. If I can afford her."

"With Paula's background as a dancer, choreographer and reality judge now, I don't know anyone more qualified than Paula Abdul," he added.

Lythgoe said he didn't discuss the "Idol" negotiations with Abdul but thinks it's a mistake for the show to have let her go.

"I think that's too personal," he said. "That's what she must sort out for herself. All we discussed is that, yes, this is the situation at the moment, and she may well be free to come and join us on 'SYTYCD.'"

Lythgoe said that it's shameful that "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell's salary and host Ryan Seacrest's recent negotiations were made public, because "that would have aggrieved anybody else and you'd want more money, I would think, when you see those numbers. Negotiations should be held behind closed doors, not discussed, and no embarrassment on either party."

Fox and the producers were criticized last season for losing control of the production; several episodes ran long and interfered with other programming. Lythgoe blames those issues on the addition of the fourth judge, Kara DioGuardi, whose contract has been renewed.

"I'm not a fan of four judges," Lythgoe said. "I don't mind it as guest judges. But when it's every week, you run out of time as you well know. My TiVo didn't like the fact there were four judges. I also didn't like the fact that on some weeks Simon didn't get to critique some of the singers. And to be frank I wanted to hear what he's got to say about everybody. So it made no sense to me put a fourth judge in there.

"Plus, without question, for me, it lost some of its chemistry," he added. "I believe that [Randy Jackson], Paula and Simon are the true ingredients of great judging. They're historic now. Whenever judges are discussed on reality shows, they are the ones you want to emulate. They're the ones whose names will be written in history books of television."

Additionally, Abdul and Cowell's chemistry, he said, cannot be duplicated.

"There is no one else I know that can slap Simon around," he said. "I don't think Kara can do that. The chemistry isn't right. She hasn't been castigated by Simon. If that starts to occur, it will all be fake. When Paula smacked Simon, you never felt that was put on for the cameras. That was her true emotion coming out, a true passion."

Paula Abdul Leaving 'American Idol'

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- After much speculation, Paula Abdul will not be returning to "American Idol" next season.

The "Idol" judge hit her Twitter page on Tuesday night to break the news.

"With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #Idol," she posted on her Twitter page. "I'll miss nurturing all the new talent,but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1become an international phenomenon."

Following the announcement, FOX issued a statement of their own to Access Hollywood confirming Paula would not be in her judge's chair next season for the first time since the show began in 2002.

"Paula Abdul has been an important part of the 'American Idol' family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she's a tremendous talent and we wish her the best," the statement from FOX said.

During her "Idol" negotiations, Paula posted several messages on her Twitter page making it clear that her return was still up in the air.

"Your support & encouragement means so much to me. I hope you understand I can only return to #Idol if the deal is fair," she posted last week.

On Tuesday, after announcing she would not return for the show's upcoming ninth season, Paula once again offered her heartfelt thanks to her fans for their support.

"What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me... It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month," she wrote. "I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all."

Paula's negotiations with "Idol" producers reportedly came down to money. According to a previous report by Radar Online, the veteran reality judge was asking for $20 million to return to the show - "Idol" was reportedly willing to offer half of that amount.

The news of her departure comes just weeks after host Ryan Seacrest inked a new contract worth $45 million over three years, making him the highest paid host on reality TV.

Meanwhile, last week it was confirmed that the newest member to the "Idol" judging panel, Kara DioGuardi, would be returning to the show when Season Nine bows in January.

Evidently there are some people who are wearing some insulting Adam t-shirts and there is some girl outside by the buses who they are concerned about. So Adam didn't come out to see the fans. He's fine, they just didn't want to risk anything. But still...yikes!

The security guard said the producers were saying some girl is following Adam and is dangerous and/or armed so he needed to leave. He also said the stalker had been following him since early this morning.

I have no idea whether the guard was lying or not, but it seems like a weird thing to lie about. He said people backstage were freaking out. Security said he got in a car with someone and left as soon as the show ended.

This is really scary! Some fans take things way too far. Since Adam is now afraid for his life, he's not coming out to sign autographs for fans before or after the shows. I also heard that he hasn't been at the past two after parties. Why do some fans always ruin it for others?

Driver to Fight Idol Hit-and-Run Charges

Daniel Bark, the 23-year-old accused of striking and killing American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen while allegedly fleeing police, is mounting a vigorous defense, his attorney tells PEOPLE.

"There will be a not guilty plea entered across the board for all of the complaints," says Freehold, N.J.-based lawyer Daniel Glassman, noting that no one has come forward as a witness to the hit-and-run.

"We don't have anything in regards to the mechanics of how this young woman was killed," Glassman adds. "There are a lot of unanswered questions regarding how the accident occurred."

Bark was charged with aggravated manslaughter, death by vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident after his arrest last weekend in Seaside Heights, N.J.

He remains in an Ocean County Jail on $150,000 bail and is on medication and suicide watch, Glassman says. "He's having a very difficult time being charged with killing someone," he says. "It's an emotional overload."

Glassman says that Cohen, 25, was in a bar called Hemingway's prior to her death and that it is "under an investigation to determine what Alexis's activities were before she left."

"We don't know what her state of affairs were, her physical condition was, if she walked into the vehicle," says the lawyer. "We don't know about the lighting in the area, there are a myriad of factors."

Authorities declined to reveal the specifics of the investigation. "We don't share the investigation with the defense attorney until it's completed," says Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutors Office. "At this juncture we don't tell him what we're doing."

Glassman, meanwhile, voiced the Bark family's condolences to Cohen's family. "It's a horrible situation," he says, "and they want to make sure the victim's family knows how sorry they are that their daughter was killed."

Kara DioGuardi Will Be Back on American Idol

Ousted Season 8 "American Idol" Finalist Ju`Not Joyner joined AI Now LIVE today to speak out about the "truth of Idol" for the first time and share his opinion on why he thinks "Idol ain't all it is cracked up to be."

Ju`Not didn't waste any time getting into the controversial details. He began saying, "Well...first of all, let me say that I'm grateful that I was on the show. Now that that's out the way, I hated L.A. I met some cool folks but overall, it's a fixed thing if I every saw one."

When asked about the validity of fan voting Ju`Not said, "I don't know about those. They sit us down and tell us it's fair blah..blah...but who knows. Do you think a billion dollar enterprise is subject to the whim of the public?"

One fan was extremely thrown by Ju`Not's comments and said, "I'M SHAKING AND CRYING RIGHT NOW!"

But Joyner wanted to make it clear that the right person did win Idol. "As far as Kris, he's talented. He got what he deserved."

When asked about how race played into his Idol journey Ju`Not said, "As far as being a black man on the show.....I don't really focus on that. They wanted too though. Even though I'm from the hood, they wanted me to put that out to the world and expose my personal business for ratings. I wouldn't do it. Then they pulled me aside and told me I was a trouble maker for asking questions about the gazillion slavetracts we were signing."

But Ju`Not was not done just yet. He went on to add, "I debated on telling this but, the hell with it. They pay for our lawyers to negotiate against their lawyer (which is BS). They make us COLLECTIVELY choose the lawyer, then they act like it's in our best interest. Craziest stuff i've ever seen. I have a son to feed. I HAD to ask questions and know what I was signing. Plus I write my own songs and I needed to know details...Some folks were like "just shutup and sign on the dotted line." I know better than that."

Joyner went on to explain, "We all had one lawyer and a few hours to go over the details of about 6 or 7 contracts, that we didn't even get a copy of...and we didn't get an opportunity to send to an outside attorney...and if we didn't sign, we couldn't be on the show...So, naturally I wanted to know what I was signing, and I asked good questions (my fiancee is an attorney). I guess that makes me a "troublemaker" which is complete BS and has nothing to do with my talent."

And when we asked him how this affected his time on Idol, he responded saying, "I definitely believed that affected my time on the show. They didn't like the fact that I wouldn't sign "just anything" and that other contestants were coming asking me questions. So I think they ousted me the first chance they could get...Even if I didn't get in on votes...how did I not get picked for the Wildcard show when I received comments from the "judges" that were better than most of the contestants who were picked for the Wildcard show."

Facing criticism from some viewers about why Joyner is releasing these details, he replied, "I wasn't complaining...I was asking basic legal questions. There's a huge difference between the two."

Several fans asked if releasing these controversial details was going to hurt Joyner's future music career, including his new album set to release this winter. Joyner replied, "I don't think me speaking on it will harm image...the truth is the truth..I'm a straight up person."

So I knew what questions to ask. It's kinda like ignorance is bliss. Some contestants may have thought it was just cool to be on TV, but this is my career. I take this thing "VERY" seriously...Very few people spoke up. They saw me as the ring leader. I'm not naming names. Because I have nothing against the other Idols."

When asked about Idol Producer Ken Warwick's impact on the show Joyner said, "As far as Ken....I like Nigel. Next lol." Joyner then added, "Ken was the one who pulled me aside and basically told me to stop askin' questions, shut up and "you're not going to ruin my show."

But Joyner did leave on a good note saying, "I'm just telling the truth. I'm a real person like ya'll and I'm real about my experience. I'm pretty sure none of the other contestants went through what I did so I would expect them to have a different account....Overall, Idol was a "net positive." I got exposed and I get to talk to you guys. It's certainly not the fairy tail most think it is. It's showbiz... I just been focusing on making my project as hot as possible. Kris Allen fans can purchase T-shirts celebrating his victory as the 2009 “American Idol” champion and supporting a scholarship in his honor.

Glenn Crockett, a member of the Kris Allen Task Force, said shirts are available at ACE Hardware in Conway or at www.eventsales.org. The victory shirt is light blue with image of Allen singing and bears his signature and “Thanks for your support.” Also for sale are the original “Conway Backs Kris Allen” T-shirts that were popular during the competition. They are available in pink, green and gray. Youth and adult sizes are available in the victory shirts, but only adult sizes are available in the original shirts. The cost is $15 per shirt.

“Surprisingly, I’m selling more of the original than the new,” Crockett said.

A scholarship for performing arts is being established at the University of Central Arkansas for performing arts. The task force is working with the UCA Foundation to set up the scholarship. From each $15 purchase, a portion goes to the scholarship fund. The amount depends on the quantity of shirts the task force orders, Crockett said.

“If it really kicks off, it will be more,” he said. “I thought about hats … There may be other items we can order to help with the scholarship.”

He noted donors do not have to purchase a shirt to donate to the scholarship fund.

“Once they have something set up on the UCA site, we will put a link on eventsales.org,” Crockett said.

“We’re still kicking around ideas on the actual name (of the scholarship), but we’re accepting donations right away,” he said.

“American Idol” auditions are just two weeks away, and a deal for judge Paula Abdul has at best, stalled, and at worst is all but D.O.A.

“There’s an offer on the table, but it’s not one that Paula is happy with,” said a source close to the singer. “She sees the big money Ryan Seacrest got, she knows that Simon is close to a huge deal, too. She feels like it’s personal that she’s not getting the same big numbers,” said the source. (Abdul’s manager, David Sonenberg, did not return calls for comment.)

Some wonder if Abdul’s past difficult behavior might have something to do with the pace at which things are moving. “There are times where she’d be running late, times when she’d be tired of traveling, there were times, frankly, when it seemed like she could be on the verge of quitting,” says a former assistant of Abdul’s. “I’m sure she has never wanted to leave the show in a literal sense, but sometimes there is that appearance.”

Sources close to “Idol” have said that the show says they will walk away from Abdul if she can’t agree to their offer, but that might not totally be the case. “They know she’s irreplaceable, to walk away would be at most, a ratings disaster, at the least, a frightening prospect going into the next season,” according to a source close to the production.

Man Who Allegedly Hit & Killed Alexis Cohen Charged

We have now learned that Daniel Bark, the 23-year-old NJ man arrested in connection with Alexis Cohen's death, is being charged with aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, eluding police and fleeing the scene of an accident. Bark's bail has also been raised to $150,000.

Bark's attorney, David Glassman, is calling the incident a "tragedy" and says his client is on suicide watch at the jail. "He's having an extremely difficult time mentally coming to terms with the fact there's an allegation that he caused a death," Glassman said. People Magazine is reporting Bark already had a DUI on his record and he was fleeing police at the time of the alleged fatal collision with Cohen. Bark allegedly collided with a parked car in a lot next to a bar and when police ordered him to stop, he took off. Minutes later he allegedly struck and killed Cohen.

Cohen will be put to rest on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Knopp Funeral Home at 46 Susquehann St. in Allentown, Pa, according to reports.

Police Make An Arrest In Alexis Cohen's Death

On July 14, Chris Daughtry and his band “Daughtry” (real original, right?) released their second album titled Leave This Town. The album skyrocketed up the charts, debuting in the number one position on the Billboard Top 200. Daughtry is the first American Idol contestants to ever have two albums debut at number one back to back. Kelly Clarkson has also released two albums debuting at number one, but they weren’t back to back. Her second and third album released both skyrocketed to the top of the charts (and stayed there for a while) but her first and third album were unable to do so. The funny part about it all? Chris Daughtry didn’t even win. He wasn’t even the runner up contestant... Chris Daughtry finished his American Idol journey at number five in the spring of 2006.

But don’t count Chris Daughtry as the only successful non-American Idol winner (or even runner up for that matter) from their season. In season five alone, four other contestants that didn’t make it past the top three have gone on to become major successes in different genres. Kellie Pickler and Bucky Covington (both current Nashville residents) have had several hit singles in the country music industry, while Elliot Yamin released his second album in February of this year. LOS ANGELES — One's a makeup-wearing, "Twilight"-loving gay man, and the other's a devoutly religious worship leader from a small town in Wisconsin. Nope, it's not the pitch for a new sitcom, but rather the reality of "American Idol" finalists Adam Lambert and Danny Gokey, currently on the road for the American Idols Live! tour.

With such a disparity between the two performers, it's not surprising that the singers' fanbases have as much in common with each other as Paula Abdul and MC Skat Kat. Sadly, instead of singing and dancing about their differences, the rival fans are screaming at each other on the Internet. And Danny Gokey thinks it's gone too far.

"It's not cool. They tend to bash each other," Gokey told MTV News at the recent "Idol" tour stop in L.A.

In fact, Gokey cites the unfortunate fan friction as the main reason stories began surfacing about a supposed Adam/Danny feud.

"There's a lot of made-up stories about how me and Adam are behind the scenes, like, punching each other and fighting. And me and Adam are like, 'Uh, hi, guys! We're buddies! We're cool!' " Gokey insisted.

Gokey and Lambert even took to Twitter, telling their fans to take a chill pill. Gokey said their fans' response was frustrating. "They [didn't] believe it! 'That's a false Adam, that's a false Danny! It's not them.' "

The reluctant Danny and Adam fans finally came around when Lambert's Twitter account was hacked (in an unrelated incident) and saw that Adam chose Danny's account to spread the news. The two singers also began appearing in several video BubbleTweets together.

"Since the BubbleTweets, things are calming down," Gokey said. "I've seen on my Twitter account some people are saying, 'Oh! You and Adam are cool. OK, we're fine with that!' "

First of all, Nigel tells the Daily News that Paula would have at least one job offer if she doesn’t return to Idol. “We would certainly consider [Abdul as] a guest judge. Without question.”

Nigel then offered his take on what is going on with negotiations:

For Daughtry, “Leave This Town” is the band’s second No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Its self-titled freshman set debuted at No. 2 with 304,000 upon its release in November 2006. It went to No. 1 in its ninth week on the list, an incredible feat considering the vast majority of No. 1 albums get to No. 1 by debuting there. The new album’s first single, “No Surprise,” is the act’s sixth-straight top five hit on the Adult Top 40 radio airplay chart, where it ranks at No. 5 this week.

Adam Lambert Working On A Soundtrack?

Her manager David Sonenberg is playing tough, and probably made a few network execs squirm this weekend when he told the Los Angeles Times, "Very sadly, it does not appear she's going to be back on Idol."

The story behind Sonenberg's comments, RadarOnline.com has learned from sources close to the situation, is that the former Laker Girl and hit recording star is demanding $20 million and the other side has floated the idea of $10 million. And while Paula has regularly renegotiated her contract with dire threats of not returning, Sonenberg is talking tough and hasn't given anyone on the network side reason to believe he's bluffing.

Paula was reportedly miffed that Ryan Seacrest got a staggering new deal ($45 million over 3 years!) before she did. The inimitable Simon Cowell is engaged in larger negotiations that could keep him on the hit show for years and tie him exclusively to Fox with a new TV production company he's forming.

And let's not forget Kara DioGuardi, aka "the fourth judge." Sources tell RadarOnline.com she's extremely miffed at the show and the production company because they axed one of her songs from the set list of the American Idols summer tour.

Carrie Underwood is Idol's Wealthiest

Carrie Underwood may have won American Idol’s fourth season, but she is definitely Idol’s first with her paycheck. According to a recent study by Forbes, Carrie Underwood is the highest paid American Idol. She earned this title after grossing a total of $14 million in 2008 alone.

Since taking the 2005 winning crown on Idol, Underwood has been on a non-stop flight of success. Shortly after her win, she landed an endorsement deal with Skechers shoes. Her two albums have sold close to 10 million copies and produced 10 chart-topping singles making her the first country artist to have 10 #1 singles from their first two albums. Her first album Some Hearts is the best-selling female solo debut album in country music history.

Winning on Idol was only the tip of the iceberg for wins for the Oklahoma native. Underwood has won a good amount of prestigious music awards including four Grammys, five American music awards, and14 Billboard awards just to name a few. Most recently her eighth Academy of country music award landed her the highest honor of entertainer of the year.

Her top earnings may also have something to do with the over 300 concerts Underwood has played since her Idol victory. Don’t assume though her hefty paycheck has turned this country star into a diva; Underwood’s next concert will be free as she is scheduled to perform in a special Salute to the Troops show at Fort Campbell in August.

Coming in after Underwood in Idol alum earnings is season three contestant, Jennifer Hudson, who may not have won the Idol title, but did win the Oscar for her performance in Dream Girls. This past year Hudson earned a total of $5 million.

Following Hudson in third place is the original Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, who made $4.2 million in 2008. Like Underwood, Clarkson is also a multiple Grammy winner and her latest single “All I ever wanted” debuted at No.1 on the Billboard music charts.

Will Carrie Underwood hold the top paycheck next year as well? Only time will tell, but if she continues to go at the rate she’s going; odds are most definitely in her favor.

Looks like 2009 Idol winner Kris Allen has a lot to live up to amongst his fellow idols.

More Anti-Gay Protests Planned For Idol Concerts

We were the first Idol news site to bring you details of the San Jose anti-gay protests and now we are told more protests are likely.

The homophobic Westboro Baptist Church plans to picket several upcoming Idol concerts. Obviously, they plan to specifically target Adam Lambert. However, as we saw in San Jose, the group also reaches out to other finalists and even fans who are trying to enjoy the concert.

The group is known for their offensive signs. Phrases like “God Hates Fags” and "Fag Enabler" are common and were spotted in San Jose. The group also runs GodHatesFags.com, GodHatesAmerica.com and several other websites which regularly post offensive content.

This church, which only consists of a dozen or so members, has also been reportedly spotted at funerals across the country, including Mr. Rogers's ceremony.

The schedule for WBC (please note, the linked PDF file contains offensive language and ideas) includes visits to Idol tour concerts in Dallas, Tulsa, Washington DC, Baltimore, St. Louis and Kansas City.

Idol's Brooke White Readies for Album Release

Hard to believe, but Randy Jackson — despite incessantly trumpeting his music-producer cred on the show — has never collaborated with an Idol alum — until now, that is.

Which Idol judges will be back next season?

Jackson has lent his talents to Season 7 fifth-place finisher Brooke White , whose debut album, High Hopes & Heartbreak, is out Tuesday, July 21. The pair also cofounded the indie label on which it will be released. "I'm very appreciative of Randy taking on this project and to have him on my team," White tells TVGuide.com. "I don't know why he's working with me!"

The collaboration was not planned. White and Jackson ran into each other at a guitar store months after her Idol run had ended and started chatting. "We talked for over an hour. He was so nice. My husband was there and he talked to him too," she says. "And then he said, 'If there's anything I can do to help you out, let me know,' which I just thought he was saying to be nice."

But a dawg of his word, Jackson did help White out a few months later — unsolicited — to work on the breezy, folksy and "California-style" tunes on Heartbreak. Jackson, the "sounding board," hooked her up with producer Dave Cobb and gave her advice on every song. The duo, along with White's manager, Carl Stubner, launched June Baby Records (White's birthday is June 2) after the singer-songwriter concluded a major label wasn't the right fit for her.

"It was the right decision and it felt good. Music is such a personal thing and now I'm attaching it to a business," she says. I take my art, my love, and I attach it to record sales and all this stuff so that people know that it is there. I'm excited for people to hear it, but of course you get nervous. I'd like to say I don't care what people think, but of course I do!"

White hopes to launch a tour soon in support of the album, possibly with fellow Season 7 finalist Michael Johns. The two have recorded a song together, "Life Is Okay," and White is already looking to future duets — with another Idol grad.

We sat down with the touring 10 yesterday and asked them some of the charming questions you'd submitted, and they were kind enough to answer. The gang talks about upcoming projects, life on the road and tease some super secret projects.

Kate: Ask Allison to talk about how she felt about the bra incident in Vancouver.
Allison Iraheta: Adam and I were singing "Slow Ride," and all of a sudden a bigass pink bra is thrown on the stage, and I picked it up with my foot and threw it to him and we had fun.

Adam Lambert: That was my favorite moment on tour so far. It cracked me up. And then wadded-up panties came onstage, and it looked a bit funky. I picked up the bra and flung it back out in the audience. But the panty, I just slid it around the stage with my foot. I didn't want to touch it.

Zizim: The one question on everyone's minds: Is Anoop really dating Megan Joy?
Megan Joy: No way. That's not true, and that's an old rumor! No one is dating anyone on this tour.

Anoop Desai: We are all just friends.

Jackie: Kris, what made you eat 10 plums that fateful day?
Kris Allen: Oh, Twitter. I tweeted it. It was 14 plums, not 10. I was at the studio in a house in L.A., and there was a plum tree there. And they were so good I just kept eating them. Don't ever do that. It's not a good thing. Plums turn into prunes and you know what prunes are used for. It was pretty rough. But they were so good.

Kristina: Allison, what is your debut album going to be like, and who are you working with?
Allison: It's definitely rock. I'm getting some recording and writing with other awesome writers done out there. I wish I could name them all, but some of them are David Hodges, Kevin Rudolf and Kara DioGuardi. Kara's songs are amazing. Lyrically, I'm focusing in reality and the world out there right now, my life and what's happened to me in my life.

Anonymous: Question for all Idols: How did you feel about that ridiculous protest outside the San Jose concert on July 12?
Adam: Oh, that was fun. It was six people, and I don't give a s--t. The amount of support, even in Utah of all places, everywhere else has been overwhelming. There will always be people who have their opinions. I don't care.

Leo: Adam, how are you working on the record on the road?
Adam: It's been double duty, and it's been rough. I recorded all day yesterday [Wednesday] in L.A. But that's a secret. It's not for my record, possibly for a soundtrack. That's all I can say. It's not for New Moon, but that would be cool. It's a lot of work. It's like, OK go tour, go record, go write, go do press and photo shoots. But I stay pretty cool under pressure. They have a masseuse backstage, and that helps.

T.T.: Are you guys reading the reviews of the Idol concert tour? Have they created any discussion or friction among the Idols?
Lil Rounds: I don't read the reviews. Some of the other guys definitely do. I hear it's going great. And in USA Today I was in the headline, but I wouldn't have known that if someone didn't tell me, because I try to stay away from the reviews.

Catira: Matt, you've been killing it on tour! Amazing set. You are so talented! Also wanted to say I am pretty sure you will get signed by a major label after the tour ends. Have you received some label offers already? Any meetings?
Matt Giraud: I've been talking to people, and I'm writing music. I just got hired on for the Michigan-based Yobi.tv for an online singing competition called Make the Cut. I'm the host/judge/mentor. Auditions are going on right now. I'm looking for people who are passionate and different. It's kind of cool to be on the opposite side now. I'm going to channel Paula [Abdul] a bit and be the nicer guy and try to help them out.

Annie: Are the Idols partying like rock stars on tour?
Michael Sarver: We don't go out much. If we get together and have a drink, we go in one of our hotel rooms. But it's too difficult to go out. Our schedule is pretty busy, so when we have a night off, I like to sit in my hotel room and do nothing.

IdolFan1: Is it true the Idols check into hotels under fake names?
Danny Gokey: Yes. I can't say what mine is, but I can say it's just a made-up, random name that sounds Italian. Some of them are funny. Some of them are sayings, and one person's is something you have to say in a special way.

MelBear: What is more fun, doing the TV show or touring?
Scott MacIntyre: The tour is much more fun, and it's easier. As far as workload, there is nothing more stressful than being on the American Idol show. We were getting maybe three or four hours of sleep a night some weeks. I'm getting a lot more sleep on tour.

Kris Allen & Adam Lambert Talk About “No Boundaries”

Cutting Kara DioGuardi's "No Boundaries" from the American Idol tour was a no-brainer for Kris Allen.

"Taking that out is kind of helping my set a little bit," Allen explained to us this morning as he and Adam Lambert picked up their new Ford vehicles at Galpin Ford just outside of Los Angeles. "It gave it a little but more energy…It just felt like a better fit to put something else in."

Critics and fans have pretty much trashed "No Boundaries," which DioGuardi cowrote, ever since it debuted as the American Idol victory song during the finale in May. Allen has replaced it with The Killers' "All These Things That I've Done."

"Everyone knows that song," Lambert said. "It's really great."

Our favorite singing bromancers also talked about which Idol alums they'd like to work with...

"I love Kelly Clarkson," Allen said. "She's incredible, so that's who I'd want to work with."

Lambert is a big fan, too. "The album Kelly just came out with is fantastic," he said. "Great writers, great producers. She wrote a bunch of songs on there, and Katy Perry—my girl—wrote songs on there, too. It's great."

But then Lambert added, "I want to work with Fantasia, just hollerin' back and forth."

On a more serious not, the openly gay Lambert said he's trying not to think too much about protesters who showed up at one of the recent Idol tour stops. "I don't think I'm going to change their minds," he said. "I respect their opinion, but they didn't need to come to a concert and spread negativity...Go use your energy for something productive."

Paula Abdul's manager: She'll leave 'Idol' if 'rude' producers don't step up new deal

Paula Abdul is unhappy. And unless the producers of "American Idol" change her frown to a smile soon, she'll dance like there's no tomorrow away from TV's No. 1 show.

"Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on 'Idol,' " David Sonenberg, Abdul's manager, told The Times when contacted about the judge's contract negotiations.

With auditions for the ninth season due to start Aug. 6, Sonenberg says he doesn't even have a proposal for a new contract from FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the production companies behind the show. The new season is scheduled to premiere in January.

"I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful," he said of the contract holdup. "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do."

Representatives for Fremantle, 19 and Fox all separately declined to comment.

When TV stars (or their reps) air contract-renewal gripes in the media, it's often a sign that negotiations are entering a more active phase. Abdul -- whose tearful, tongue-tied feedback to contestants have made her a kind of batty sister figure to star "Idol" judge Simon Cowell -- may have special reasons to want to push the ball forward now, given that "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest just signed a deal worth a reported $45 million that will keep him on the job for at least the next three years. That pact effectively doubled Seacrest's salary.

Meanwhile, Cowell has a contract that expires next year and is jockeying for his own rich new payday. Published reports have floated a mind-blowing figure of $144 million, which Cowell has scoffed at, saying that talks are ongoing. (Fellow judge Randy Jackson is booked through 2011.)

But the situation is more complicated for Abdul. Last season, the producers added a fourth judge, Kara DioGuardi. Producers have not announced a deal with DioGuardi either, but the speculation is that her presence at the judging table may have been a shrewd move to tamp down any outsize contract demands that Abdul and her team might make. For their parts, both DioGuardi and Abdul have said recently that they want to return to the show. (DioGuardi's publicist did not respond to a request for comment.)

But in Abdul's case, that seems dependent on getting the right dollar amount. Sonenberg has said his client has not been well-compensated in the past.

She's already looking toward an "Idol"-less future, he says, though Abdul's foray into non-"Idol" programming, the 2007 Bravo show "Hey Paula," was not a success.

"She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt. She's angry," Sonenberg said. "I think at this point we're going to be considering everything, including some kind of a competition show. She has tremendous ideas for a whole variety of shows."

New Danny Gokey Record Details

Late last month, Danny Gokey — the only top-four "American Idol" contestant who doesn't have a record deal yet — got fans buzzing when he tweeted that he was headed to Nashville for a series of meetings that had "nothing to do" with his charity, the Sophia's Heart Foundation.

It seemed like news of Gokey signing to a Nashville label would break any day. Then the weeks went by, and nothing happened. But from the sound of things, that might be changing. Soon.

On Thursday — just hours before the American Idols Live! tour invaded the Staples Center in Los Angeles — MTV News spoke to Gokey, who made it sound like he was not just very close to signing with a label, but to getting fitted for a 10-gallon hat too.

"I have a record label coming out [to Friday night's (July 17) tour stop in Ontario, California] to see me perform, and I found a producer I want to work with. His name is Mark Bright. He produced Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts," Gokey said. "There's no twang in me, but I love the message that country [has]. ... Like, could you honestly see me talking about, like, booty and shakin' it, being like, 'Hey, girl!' I'm just not that type of artist.

"Country music kind of houses the message that I like, and I can still talk about the things in my music that still goes on in that genre," he added. "And it carries a lot of meaning for me. So I never thought about it before, but I could see myself doing it, if we could just get the twang right."

Country might seem like an odd fit for Gokey, who won over legions of fans on "Idol" with his husky voice and soulful takes on Michael Jackson, Seal and Ben E. King, but he was quick to point out that he performed an Underwood song on the show and has been working some Rascal Flatts tunes into his Idols Live! set. And, looking at the current country landscape, he sees himself fitting in perfectly.

"You can talk about just about anything in the country theme," he said. "Think about it: Rascal Flatts, they're like really soul/country. And Taylor Swift, there's not a lot of country in her; she's got some pop to her. ... So I want to do something like that, like a soul/pop/country thing. It makes sense to me."

Kris Allen, who just rejoined the tour in Los Angeles, following the death of his grandmother and a quick trip home to be with his family at this tragic time, said, “I have actually done the forgotten-the-lyrics thing. I was singing ‘Heartless’ and I sang the verse twice. When I started it, I started the second verse, and I started freaking out. I said, ‘Oh, crap.’ But the band started playing along with me. I felt really bad for that show.”

Adam Lambert: “We have been having a really good time backstage with the Bubble Tweet feature on Twitter. Michael, Danny, Kris, Matt and I open up the laptop and we like doing these really silly Bubble Tweets, which is basically a video you can post on your Twitter. That has been a source of endless entertainment. We usually do five takes before we decide on the one we are going to post. It is a little glimpse into us being goofy backstage. It is what keeps us going.”

Danny Gokey: “Me and Matt are constantly joking around. We are constantly doing stuff behind the scenes. I think the funniest thing we have done on our Twitter account is Bubble Tweets. They are random and weird. We are like little boys.”

Allison Iraheta: “There was a bra incident in Vancouver. Adam and I dueted on ‘Slow Ride’ and there was a bra onstage. I picked it up with my foot and threw it at him, and he picks it up and starts twirling it over his head. It was pretty hilarious. I don’t want to know whose bra it is.”

Anoop Desai: “We have a lot of fun when we are sitting in the dressing room talking about how much weight we have all gained. I am getting flabbier. We go to all these hotels and sometimes the gyms aren’t the best in the world. By the time we get home, it is midnight, so you have to work out in the morning and sometimes you don’t feel like getting up.”

Lil Rounds: “So far, we have been doing really good. We haven’t had anything to happen yet that was, ‘I can’t believe that really happened.’ But everything has been working out. Me and the girls one time got on the bus and decided to come up with any word that came to our minds and rap it. So we were coming up with different things to rap about. We came up with a song called ‘Zig Zag.’ It was really funny.”

Matt Giraud: “Every night for me is like stepping into a crazy dream. I am trying to soak it up because you never know if you will be back here again. One night I came out and the spotlight hit me and I didn’t have a microphone. I had left it on the table, so I just lip-synced and then the back-up singers started singing, so everybody thought my mike wasn’t working because I was faking it.”

Megan Joy: “My son has been out with me twice. He is out with me right now. He is so stoked [to see me on stage]. He is all about it. He can’t come to every show because it is too hard on my mom to chase him around the arena. He loves watching me.”

American Idol: Jason Castro Gets Album Ready (And, Well, Kris Allen, Too)

Quick question: you a Jason Castro fan? Well, then, August is the month you should be waiting for. Oh, wait, that's next month already!

Because that's when the dreadlocked dark horse from American Idol's seventh season will be releasing his debut single, with the album coming shortly after. You might want to recall that he signed up with Atlantic Records last April, almost a year since he ended his run on Idol (and watched David Cook win in the process).

"If you fell in love with Jason on the show, this is exactly the record you'd want him to make," Atlantic's A&R head Pete Ganberg said. "It's introspective, playful and very much a combination of his influences, which range from Jeff Buckley to Jack Johnson."

There aren't many details regarding his release, but there'll be 14 tracks on it. Castro's co-written 11 of them, and one of the contributors is new Idol judge (and "artistry!" expert) Kara DioGuardi.

"I'm really excited about the music we've written," Castro said. "I'm ready to get out there and show it to the world."

And while we're at it, perhaps I should mention Idol's latest winner, Kris Allen? Sure? Okay. There's something interesting I've heard as he gets his album ready, all while touring. Anyway. He's set to bring us a record which sounds a bit like Jason Mraz and John Mayer, with a bit of urban sensibility.

"Each writing session has been a learning experience," he said. "I think that we are trying to figure it out and that it's going the right way, and I'm really excited about that. I can't wait."

He isn't recording yet, but it seems many are interested to have Kris record their material. Songwriters David Hodges (Kelly Clarkson, Daughtry), Salaam Remi (Nas, Amy Winehouse), and Claude Kelly (Akon, Leona Lewis) have submitted their material, and it's all for the picking. Now, that's a pretty lofty situation.

Review: Adam Lambert the star of 'American Idols Live!' in Oakland

The "American Idols Live! Tour 2009" features nine vocalists not named Adam Lambert and one that is.

The latter is the person who matters — at least that's what Bay Area "Idol" watchers have told me repeatedly over the last few months. Of course, some of those same people said that past winners Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard would maintain lengthy, high-profile careers. I'll be sure to pass those words on to Hicks and Studdard when I see them performing at some future county fair.

The thing is, however, those viewers may just be right this time around.

The one thing that was evident from watching Saturday's "Idols" show at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, one of three tour stops over the weekend in Northern California, is that the 27-year-old Lambert is a bona-fide star.

No matter what a person thinks of Lambert's dramatic vocal style — I find it more than a tad nauseating — it's still nearly impossible to deny his almost limitless potential. Indeed, just how the singer goes about trying to make good on all that promise should make for one of pop culture's most fascinating story lines over the next few years.

Unfortunately, the rest of the top 10 finalists that performed on this night weren't nearly as interesting as Lambert. That definitely included Kris Allen, who ended up besting Lambert to win the title of "American Idol." Whatever the voting public saw in this "average Joe" vocalist — who comes across as a blander version of John Mayer, if indeed, that's even possible — certainly didn't translate at Oracle.

Overall, the show was a snoozer, much more boring than the 2008 version. This tour simply lacks the Vegas-style razzmatazz of earlier "Idol" treks. It was designed to be a straightforward affair, one that shuns all the fun stuff like wild wardrobe changes, theatrical elements and thematic musical skits in favor of strictly spotlighting the vocalists' raw talent. As it turned out, there wasn't much worth spotlighting.

The Idols appeared in reverse order of how they finished, starting at 10th place with Michael Sarver and ending with Allen. The bottom six were pretty weak, but they did serve a purpose. They set the bar so low that the big guns had no trouble clearing it.

The first singer to really connect with the crowd was fourth place finisher Allison Iraheta, a 17-year-old Ashlee Simpson wannabe that delivered Radio Disney-appropriate versions of such rockers as Pink's "So What" and Heart's "Barracuda." She was followed by Danny Gokey, who has a nice scratchy and soulful voice, but who also lacks any type of real stage presence.

Next up was the man that seemingly every one in the three-quarter-full house had been waiting for: Lambert. The crowd went bonkers when the goth-rock Idol, recently featured on a cover of Rolling Stone magazine, appeared in his black leather outfit and began belting out Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love."

He then turned his operatic voice, so ripe for the Broadway stage, on Muse's "Starlight" and Tears for Fears' "Mad World," which turned out to be the two best songs of the night. The one major misstep of the set — and the decision can't be blamed on Lambert — was when Iraheta was called out for an unbelievably hokey duet of Foghat's "Slow Ride." Yet, he recovered nicely by ending his set with a David Bowie medley.

In direct comparison, Allen's set felt absolutely anticlimactic as he moved through folksy pop renditions of such tunes as Kanye West's "Heartless" and the Beatles' "Hey Jude." The show provided no clues to what might happen with the singer's career. It seems equally plausible that he might become the next John Mayer or that we will never hear from him again.

Far be it from me to argue with the approximately 100 million voters who decided that Allen deserved the 2009 "Idol" crown. On this night, however, he was simply one of nine performers not named Adam Lambert.

"No Boundaries" Reaches Its Limit On Idol Tour

It was RUMORED that some people (we are hearing 2-4 individuals) hit the streets near the San Jose American Idol Tour protesting Adam Lambert’s sexuality. Some sources are even telling us that the protesters are saying anyone who watches the concert will go to hell.

Some disturbing reports even say Adam’s fellow Idols are being criticized for being (and we quote) “Fag Enablers." Specifically, we hear that Allison and Kris are also being targeted.

'American Idol' has been off the air for a month and a half - and won't return for months yet - but the saga of the future of its judges continues.

Paula Abdul is the latest: "I've been invited to stay the duration of the show, however long it lasts," she told the Associated Press.

Abdul's contract expired after the last season.

She also said the invitation to come back hinges on her team and those at the top-rated singing competition coming to terms on a deal.

Word of Abdul's potential contract deal comes after weeks of chatter over the future of Simon Cowell, whose contract expires after the coming season.

Cowell, widely considered the linchpin on the show, stands to make well above the reported $36 million a year he's pulling down from the show now.

Also left unanswered is whether Kara DioGuardi will be back. DioGuardi was added as a full-time judge to the panel during the past season and the results were mixed.

Having an extra judge weigh in made a handful of shows run long, leading some to suggest three judges were enough.

DioGuardi, who recently got married, has already said she wants to return.

The contract issues are playing out as auditions for the ninth season have begun.

A Fox spokeswoman had no comment on the contract chatter Tuesday.

Host Ryan Seacrest recently told TVGuide.com he believed DioGuardi and Abdul will be back next season.

"I do. I don't have any reason to believe otherwise," Seacrest said then.

Seacrest's deal to host expires after the coming season.

As for Abdul, she has shot a guest-starring episode as a judge on Lifetime's new series "Drop Dead Diva," which launches Sunday.

While on the set of "Diva," Abdul jokingly told the AP the judges were a "dysfunctional" family of sorts.

"I'm the nurturing mom, Simon's the disapproving dad, and Randy's the cool brother," she said. "It's been an interesting journey. It's something that I'll always want to be a part of."

Allen is pretty basic, too. "I'll bring my phone," he says.

But then Allen laughs, "I'll bring a piece of my wife's hair—a lock of Katy's hair, so I can brush it on my face."

Number Two: Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert finished second? You couldn't tell it from this crowd, which greets the explosive sounds and strobing lights with shrieks. Adam kicks off his set with Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, and the stage fills with smoke. He's wearing a blue-and-black metallic-looking studded jacket that comes down to his knees, along with a sleeveless black T-shirt and black pants. The crowd may have been dancing for Allison and Danny -- for Adam, they're screaming. Suddenly we've gone from the world of AC pop into a real rock show.

Second song is Muse's Starlight, and the six disco balls hanging above the stage turns the Rose Garden into a planetarium. It's Adam's typically impressive song choice -- for the arrangement, imagine Erasure's Andy Bell fronting the Sisters of Mercy -- and he sings it flawlessly, beautifully, slipping in and out of falsetto. (I wonder if this begins to approach what his album will sound like -- you wouldn't hear me complaining if it did.) Matt's version of Hard to Handle was pretty cool, but this is the first of the new numbers I'd lay down cash money to hear again.

Low-level fog creeps in, as Adam takes a seat on a stool to sing the Tears for Fears/Gary Jules song Mad World. The crowd is still on its feet, and they've brought out their cameras -- you could practically read in here, the flashes are so steady. Some people are singing along; most of them just look entranced.

The guitarist cranks out the opening chords to Slow Ride start, and the audience knows what's coming -- or, rather, who. Allison Iraheta walks on stage, and the place goes ballistic.

Now, he's doing the David Bowie medley he promised, which starts with Life on Mars (and the big red planet is behind him on the video screen). As he slides into Fame, the crowd shrieks again, but it's not for the song: Adam has shed his jacket, revealing the sleeveless T underneath. He's obviously been working with JaQuel Knight on choreography, too; he's moving lithely across the stage in a way Idol viewers never saw. The third number, Let's Dance, assumes a pulsing, throbbing club rhythm under his command, barely resembling the pseudo-horn-band arrangement of Bowie's original.

He finishes, then descends on the center-stage lift.

Adam Lambert & Kris Allen: They Want to Record Together!

Los Angeles (E! Online) – For the next three months or so, Adam Lambert and Kris Allen will be spending a lot of time with each other as they crisscross the country on the American Idol tour.

It's no wonder that the two say we shouldn't be surprised if, in the end, they decide to record a song together.

"It could happen," Lambert told me Friday during my exclusive sit-down with him and Allen. "Maybe we'll write a song on the road."

Allen smiled, "We have to figure it out, but yeah, we should do it."

No surprise that the American Idol winner and runner-up have become as tight as any two best friends could be. So just how close are they?

They both laugh when I ask Allen if Lambert is his "closest gay."

"As much time as we spend together, I would probably say so," Allen said.

And it works both ways. "He's definitely becoming my closest straight," Lambert said. "That's something I am trying to get across—that it doesn't frickin' matter. Just like when people were dealing with race relations. The moment we started getting over it as a society was the moment we stopped paying attention to the differences and paid attention to the similarities."

He continued, "People get so scared and uncomfortable with the ways in which they are different. I think it's a testament to Kris that he's completely comfortable in his own skin, comfortable with his sexuality. He's a straight man, he's married and it's not threatening for him to be friends with a gay guy."

Or, as the more reserved Allen put it, "That's what's wrong with the world. Why can't everyone just get along?"

As talkative as Lambert is, he remains pretty much tight-lipped on matters of the heart.

"I do not have a boyfriend," he said when I ask about the much-speculated-about relationship he has with interior designer and artist Drake LaBry. "I know everybody wants to know, but that is the one area that I kind of want to keep out of the press: my personal love life, especially out of respect to the other person."

But then, a few minutes later, Lambert looked at me and said, "OK, let me set the record straight with you on the boyfriend thing—Yes, Drake and I are dating. You can say that."

Now back to show business. Is Lambert itching to get back to acting like he did in his pre-Idol theater days?

Not exactly.

"I think I'm a little bit over it because I spent so much time as a kid in theater," he said. "I had my love affair with musical theater and now I'm like, 'Give me something edgier, give me something a little grittier, a little bit sexier and not so safe.'"

Allen, on the other hand, wants absolutely nothing to do with acting. "I don't think so, man," he said. "I don't think anyone would ask me to. I did those Ford commercials and it was hell."

I just sat down with Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. While we chatted about many things, I could not help but first ask them about Michael Jackson.

In fact, on Monday, Fox will reair this year's Jackson-themed performance night, when Allen sang "Remember the Time," and Lambert belted out "Black or White."

The first album Allen ever owned was Jackson's Dangerous from 1991…

"He was the most influential musical person that I had in my life," Allen said. "On the artist side of things, everything that he did was just so right."

He continued, "Every album that he did, it hit you in a way that just made you feel good. It made you feel him and feel his music. He was a genius, a complete genius."

Lambert remembered listening to 1982's Thriller.

"His voice was just one of a kind," he said. "No one else sounds like him. Furthermore, the visual stuff he brought to the table was so groundbreaking and edgy and ahead of its time, in a way. There wasn't anyone else really going out there like that."

Lambert added that the King of Pop broke barriers. "He defied sexuality and race in a way that no one else has," he said. "He wasn't openly masculine or feminine. He was kind of somewhere in the middle in this androgynous space and at some point he was like, 'Black or white, it doesn't matter.' There were a lot of things he straddled the line of, and I think that was really cool."

Fray's Joe King Says There's 'A Good Vibe In The Studio' With Kris Allen

"American Idol" winner Kris Allen is busy preparing for the American Idols Live tour, but his album won't wait either. While runner-up Adam Lambert has hooked up with RedOne, Allen has recruited an all-star cast of collaborators for his still-in-development record.

Both Lambert and Allen have hooked up with former Evanescence member David Hodges, who has also collaborated with former "Idol" contestants Kelly Clarkson ("Because of You"), David Archuleta ("Crush") and Chris Daughtry ("What About Now").

Allen will also be collaborating with Salaam Remi, a hip-hop producer best known for his work with Nas ("Where Are They Now") and Amy Winehouse (everything on Back to Black not produced by Mark Ronson). Remi isn't the only urban influence that Allen is bringing in, as Claude Kelly has also been connected with the winner. Kelly has collaborated on tracks for Leona Lewis ("Forgive Me") and Akon (the Michael Jackson-assisted "Hold My Hand").

But Allen has already spent time with writer and producer Joe King, the guitarist and songwriter from the Fray. Allen performed King's version of Kanye West's "Heartless" on the show, and the pair recently spent two days in Timbaland's studio in Virginia Beach, where they demoed a song. "I'm literally in the studio mixing the rough demo right now," King said via telephone from Toronto (the Fray just began the first leg of their North American tour). "It doesn't have a title yet. It doesn't even have lyrics — but there is a lot of gibberish."

King said there wasn't any romance to how they got together — he simply responded "Yes" to Allen's e-mail. "I didn't even see most of the show because we were on tour in Europe and Australia," he explained. "But I found out he won when we got back and I saw he did 'Heartless,' so I was aware of him when he contacted me."

"It was a very good vibe in the studio. There was no pressure — we just had breakfast, got to know each other," King said. "It was all very organic after that." Though they recorded in Timbaland's studio, the super-producer wasn't present during the sessions. "But Timbaland's brother was there along with his crew, and it added this great energy to the session. When the boys heard the track, they started hanging around." King was happy to get some feedback from an outside source, as well as receiving a killer compliment. "Timbaland's brother said if Timbaland was upstairs and he heard this melody, he'd walk in the studio and say, 'That's a melody.' "

Above all, it was fun. "At the end of the session, we cranked up 'Bounce' in the studio and got down," he said. "They're following Kris' progress on film, so there's video of us white boys shaking it to Timbaland songs in his studio, which I hope doesn't get out there."

Since the song is still in its infant stages, King said it doesn't yet have a real identity. However, King is confident that whatever it becomes, Allen will have success. "He has all the elements it takes. He has a phenomenal voice and an incredible work ethic," says King. "He's passionate about what he's doing, and that's what's going to sell him."

Phone Number Flub
American Idol producers got themselves into trouble when they decided to add a 13th contestant to this year’s lineup. The addition posed a problem for Idol's long-standing voting system because 1-866-IDOLS-13 turned out to be the number of a phone sex operation.

During Season 8, Pacitti advanced into the Top 36. FOX issued a press release shortly after announcing that Pacitti was "ineligible to continue" and was removed from the competition due to her "very personal connections" to Michelle Young and Roger Widynowski, two executives who work for American Idol's 19 Entertainment.

Corey Clark
After he was booted off of Season 2, Clark started making claims about having a sexual relationship with judge Paula Abdul during the entire competition. Paula denied this claim and many people believed that he was trying to cash in on lost fame.

In addition, Clark had a few run-ins with the law back in 2002 when he was arrested for assaulting his sister. He failed to share this information with Idol producers, which ultimately lead to his demise on the show.

Fourth-season Idol finalist Jessica Sierra faced felony battery charges in April 2007 after hitting a man on the head with a glass at a local cafe.

American Idol Kris Allen has had a totally different post- Idol experience than runner-up Adam Lambert, managing to stay out of the limelight and off the cover of Rolling Stone.

Allen insists he has nothing but love for Lambert, but he'd rather focus on his music and finally get a shot at married life with childhood sweetheart, Katy.

Getting back to business with the Top 10 tour.
"It has been really nice. We've been crazy busy, all of us. It's nice just to hang out with everyone and see everyone. It's going to be a fun tour and it's just fun to work and do what we've wanted to do in the first place."

Penning his first song.
"I was in my first year of college, and I wrote a song called 'The Real World' and it was horrible! But you live and you learn. The thing that inspires me the most [when I write] is stuff that is happening in my life at that time. Whether it be the good, the bad, whatever. It's just about different people, friends, family and my wife."

Serenading the ladies on campus.
"I've been with my wife for seven years, so I didn't do that. But I was known as the guitar guy."

Will we hear a husband-wife duet in the future?
"She is not a singer and she will be the first to tell you that. She does not like to sing where people can hear!"

Bringing his faith into this mix.
"I want to make music that appeals to everyone. [Christianity] is a part of me, so that will come out. But for me, I don't feel like I want to come out with a Christian record or anything like that. But if you're making music that's about you, then that's going to come out a little bit."

Adam Lambert commending him on his open-mindedness.
"Me and Adam are really good friends. I learned from going to different countries and seeing different people that you can't have a one-track mind about anything. There are so many unanswered questions. I'm never going to rule out anything so you have to have an open mind and it's just about getting along with people and just having fun while we're on Earth."

Is Lambert stealing the spotlight?
"Adam is definitely one of those people who garnishes media attention. He's different, and he's something completely different from Idol and so I think he deserves all that stuff. And for me, I'm totally laid back and cool. Being on the cover of Rolling Stone, he had something to say and they wanted to be the ones to say it. That was his way to do that. I don't have any problems with it at all. I think Adam totally deserves it. I don't feel like he's stealing my thunder."

On Simon's advice to have kept his marriage a secret to get more votes.
"Stuff like that, what judges say, you have to take with a grain of salt. That never even bothered me. But I felt Kara [Dioguardi] got me the most as a writer and artist herself."

Finally settling into married life.
"It's nothing normal. It's more like the craziest boyfriend-girlfriend situation right now. It doesn't feel too much like we're married just because it's a completely different married life than we've expected, but it's still really good. We've learned that you gotta take things a little bit differently being like this. [if it wasn't for Idol] it would probably be just me and my wife sitting and having a comfortable life, and that would have been fine too. But it happened to work out this way."

Finding a balance.
"There's definitely been people that I've hung out with that have been doing it for a while and understand how to balance the married life and this kind of stuff. There's people that do it well and people that I look up to."

Adam Lambert disses his song 'Want,' recorded pre-'Idol' - but fans may want it anyway

Adam Lambert has a single, 'Want," coming out this summer - even though he'd rather it didn't. He's much more excited about the new music he's recording now, due out in the fall.

How badly do Adam Lambert fans "Want" a new single from the "Idol" runner-up?

Lambert has gone to pains to point out that "Want," a single recorded before he rose to fame on "American Idol," is not from the new album he's recording for RCA, due out in the fall.

In fact the song, which made its Internet debut on PerezHilton.com on Friday afternoon, is nothing like his new stuff, Lambert said in a statement that made "Want" sound like a product of desperate times for the singer.

"Back in 2005, when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else," his statement said.

"I was broke at the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks, so I jumped at the opportunity to record for my first time in a professional studio. The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on. I'm thrilled to be working with some of today's hottest songwriters and producers and can't wait for people to hear what my music really sounds like."

"Want" is part of an album called "On With the Show" being released by Hi Fi Recordings/Wilshire Records, and true to the disc's title, Lambert's contribution is . . . a little showy.

The question is, will the over-the-top schmaltz turn off Lambert's diehard fans, who may not really care how representative the track is of his current efforts.

Lambert-lovers eager for anything from their guyliner sporting hero post-"Idol" may eat up "Want" no matter what.

"love it! even tho its NOT his OFFICIAL single! his vocals are flawless as usual!" gushed a commenter on MTV.com on Monday in response to a brief clip from the song.

Hi-Fi, in the meantime, says Lambert's creative contributions to the album are more than he is letting on.

"Adam co-wrote many of the tracks that will appear on On With the Show ... right before his meteoric rise to prominence," Hi Fi's said in a statement on its Web site. "These recent recordings from his partnership with Wilshire, an LA-based production and publishing company, are drenched in Lambert's signature pop/rock sound and style."

For his new disc, Lambert is collaborating with RedOne, who has logged big hits for Lady Gaga and Sean Kingston, as well as producer Greg Wells. Wells works with Katy Perry, who proclaimed her preference for Lambert on a cape during a guest appearance on the run-up to the "Idol" finale.

Lambert is balancing recording his new effort with getting ready for the "Idol" live tour, which features the final top 10 contestants and goes on the road July 5.

"We're doing a lot of great preliminary work on the album right now," Lambert told the Associated Press, adding, "It's just double-duty, you know, multitasking."

David Archuleta's Father Busted For Allegedly Soliciting a Prostitute

MIDVALE, Utah - The father of American Idol runner-up David Archuleta, Jeff Archuleta was charged for allegedly soliciting a prostitute. On January 14, Midvale, Utah police raided a Reiki Massage parlor at 7350 South State Street on the basis that the parlor did not have a business license. Once inside, they identified that prostitution was taking place and there was one client receiving the services.

Inside they found a female masseuse and a male client. At that point, Midvale Police say an interview took place and the male client admitted to receiving sexual gratification from the female masseuse.

According to court documents, that one client was 47-year-old James Jeffrey Archuleta, the father of American Idol contestant David Archuleta. He was cited with a Class B misdemeanor, soliciting prostitution and was fined $582. Court documents say Archuleta waived his right to counsel and entered a six month plea in abeyance.

Jeff Archuleta's attorney Eric Bauer said Archuleta never had sex or sexual contact with his masseuse. He also said it was the first time Archuleta had ever been to the establishment. He was there for a back problem. He pled no contest to the incident and is trying and put it behind him. Archuleta's attorney said he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Danny Gokey Calls Charity Sites 'Scams,' But Are They?

When Joe Monaghan started DannyGokeyGear.com — a site that sells "designer eyewear worn by Danny Gokey" and promises to donate a percentage of the proceeds to Gokey's charity, Sophia's Heart — he failed to get the "American Idol" contestant's blessing, though he "felt that Danny would really want this." Turns out, he was wrong.

On Monday (June 15), just hours after MTV News published a story about the Gokey Gear site, Danny Gokey took to his Twitter account to address the issue, calling into question many of Monaghan's claims, indirectly calling his site and others like it "scams."

"Many companies r claiming 2 partner w/ Sophia's Heart (clothes, eyewear, etc)," Gokey wrote. "They r all SCAMS. We have not seen 1 penny nor been contacted."

Hoping to clarify the confusion — after all, Monaghan had told MTV News that he had contacted the Sophia's Heart Foundation about making a donation — we forwarded him Gokey's message. And needless to say, he disagreed with the singer's allegations.

"It really aches to hear him say that. We have made contact with SHF ... it seems he has ignored that e-mail," Monaghan wrote in an e-mail. "Also, their donation system is down. I attempted a donation this evening and the system replied that 'An Error Occurred' And 'An Email has been sent to our team about this issue.' So, I guess we will have to wait until they fix it to make our donation."

Monaghan also sent MTV News an e-mail he received from the Sophia's Heart Foundation — dated May 28 — which seems to back up his claims that he had contacted the charity.

"Thank you for your support and interest in Sophia's Heart Foundation. Your desire to help out the foundation is greatly appreciated," the e-mail reads. "We are excited about our future. Together, we can touch the lives of countless children, youth and families."

Monaghan also said that the reason Sophia's Heart had not received any money from him yet — aside from the whole "Error" problem — was because he and FramesDirect.com (the company he partnered with to sell Gokey-like frames) had agreed to donate proceeds only at the end of a 60-day period, from May 24 to July 21. A spokesperson for FramesDirect backed that assertion and told MTV News that her company has made three separate attempts to contact Sophia's Heart but has yet to hear back from the charity.

A spokesperson for Danny Gokey could not be reached for comment on the matter, but according to Monaghan, his intention has never been to scam anyone. After speaking to MTV News yesterday, he added a banner at the top of DannyGokeyGear.com that makes it very clear that his site is "NOT affiliated with Danny Gokey," and he said that Sophia's Heart will be getting a check from him on or around July 22.

"The plan was to make the donation at the end of the 60-day period anyway," Monaghan wrote. "It really is unfortunate that the bloggers and forums twisted this and blew it out of proportion."

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert said he was star struck when he met Madonna. Lambert, 27, said he has met a host of stars since the end of the show: "I've met a lot of people that I look up to, artists that I respect. That's been crazy. Just last night I met Usher, Enrique Iglesias and My Chemical Romance at the studio."

He added: "I've just been meeting these artists and they know who I am now because of the show and Rolling Stone... it's just weird to be on the same page as them, so to speak." However, there was one artist that Lambert was left in awe of after meeting - Madonna. He said: "I met Madonna and that was pretty wild. Most everybody I've met is pretty cool and on the level, but Madonna is just legendary. I've been a fan of hers since I was a kid. So that's definitely part of the intimidation factor."

Danny Gokey Charity Site Not Actually Affiliated With Singer

Danny Gokey fans are no doubt aware that the "American Idol" contestant has drawn strength from the passing of his wife, Sophia, who suffered from a congenital heart condition and died following complications from surgery in July 2008.

Her death — just four weeks before Gokey's "Idol" audition — led him to establish the Sophia's Heart Foundation, which aims to "heal the hearts of children who have been touched by poverty, sickness, disease, broken families and broken dreams." Donations to the charity have provided musical instruments to children in impoverished school districts; supplied food, clothing and shelter to those in need; covered medical bills for the needy; and established 24 scholarships in Sophia's name.

Interest in the charity (and ways to donate) has also led many Gokey fans to DannyGokeyGear.com, a Web site that's selling "Designer eyewear worn by Danny Gokey" and promising to donate a percentage of the proceeds to Sophia's Heart. The only problem? The site has absolutely nothing to do with Danny Gokey.

DannyGokeyGear.com — and the accompanying DannyGokeyBlog.com — are actually the property of Colorado Web Builders, a company run by a Denver Web designer named Joe Monaghan, and are in no way affiliated with Gokey himself, or his charity, though you probably wouldn't know it by glancing at the main page of either site (there is a tiny caveat here). And that has, rather understandably, led to some confusion.

Seems many Gokey detractors see the site as him trying to cash in on his fleeting fame, or that it only lends credence to the rumors that Gokey was close to inking a deal with LensCrafters. None of that is true, according to Monaghan, who started the site as a way of supporting Gokey and Sophia's Heart.

"A couple of us in the Denver area are real big Danny Gokey fans, and we're trying to support him and his charity, so we started the site. We didn't have a lot of money to print T-shirts or anything, so we started focusing on the glasses," Monaghan told MTV News. "We started talking to places in the Denver area that sold the kinds he wore on 'Idol,' because we wanted to work some sort of deal with them. Advertise the glasses on our site, send a portion of the proceeds to charity. Soon, the TV Guide Channel contacted us because they wanted to do a piece on Gokey's glasses, and they figured we'd be the best choice because we'd be donating to charity.

"But at that point, we were having problems with some of the glasses places in Denver, because they didn't carry a brand that Danny wore on the show — Luxotica," Monaghan continued. "So I called FramesDirect, and they were interested in helping us out. So we came up with a game plan — TV Guide would direct the viewers to our site, and we would refer traffic to FramesDirect's site, where they would sell the glasses and donate a portion of the proceeds to charity."

It all sounds well and good, until the confusion started. That led many to notice that the Gokey Gear site was not endorsed by the singer in any way, which, in turn, led FramesDirect to pull any mention of the Gokey glasses from the main page of their Web site. And that's when alarm bells started going off across the "Idol"-sphere. Was this all some gigantic scam?

"To be honest, there's been a lot of misinformation out there. So to clear it up, we're not affiliated with the foundation or Gokey. They didn't ask us to sell the frames for them," Jennifer Cameron, a spokesperson for FramesDirect, told MTV News. "We were contacted by Danny Gokey Gear, and we decided to help out the Sophia's Heart Foundation. It's as if we're doing a fundraiser for them. We're not doing this to make money, and we still intend to donate a part of the proceeds to the charity."

Cameron said that FramesDirect had reached out to the Sophia's Heart Foundation to arrange ways of donating the funds, but the company has yet to receive a response. When asked how much her company would be donating, she said she didn't know, but later e-mailed MTV News a statement that said FramesDirect intends to donate "50 percent of our profit of these frame sales between May 24, 2009 - July 21, 2009 to the Sophia's Heart Foundation."

Monaghan told MTV News that he had received information on how to make a donation from "someone" at the charity, but he has yet to respond to MTV News' e-mailed request for that contact. He did say that he plans on making a donation as soon as FramesDirect sends him a total on the sales of the Gokey Frames (MTV News has also made several independent attempts to contact Sophia's Heart to verify that Monaghan had reached out to them, but those attempts proved unsuccessful), and he added that he never started either of his sites to confuse or trick people, but rather, because he felt a spiritual connection with the "Idol" contestant.

"We've never contacted Danny about our site, but we feel that he would really want this. I'm assuming he's aware of it though, because of all the media attention," Monaghan said. "There's always been a misconception about this site, and I've tried to combat it. I'm going to add a disclaimer to the main page tonight, I promise you that.

"Look, I understand that there's a lot of skeptics out there, but there's no money to be made in this. I invested $500 to 600 of my own money [in the site] and I'll probably never get it back," he continued. "I did this because [Gokey] is my favorite 'Idol' contestant. He's a Christian, I'm a Christian — we both are doing the Lord's work. I'll make that donation, that's for sure."

At press time, MTV News was unable to reach Danny Gokey for comment.

Adam Lambert Goes Gaga for Debut Album

Adam Lambert may have just revealed all personally, but he's apparently putting on a poker face for his professional debut.

Living up to his American Idol reputation, and nickname, Glambert has sought out the musical services of hit-making producer RedOne, the man behind Lady Gaga's two biggest hits and the person frequently credited—aside from the teacup-loving singer herself—with the recent resurgence of glam rock.

Sources tell E! News that Lambert spent the weekend holed up with the "Poker Face" and "Just Dance" producer in a Los Angeles recording studio.

While a label source said Lambert's debut will be heavy on "Queen-inspired" sounds, the guylined rocker has teamed with the Swedish-Moroccan producer (who has also produced for Akon, Enrique Iglesias and Michael Jackson, among others) to look "for a new sound that goes beyond what he did on Idol."

Lambert's debut album is due out this fall on RCA Recordings.

We already got the shocking, NO-WAY! reveal in Rolling Stone -- American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is gay. Still, as Chris Connolly points out in the video embedded here, last night on 20/20 was the first time he talked about it on TV. Oh! Well that is an event. The seven-plus-minute segment didn't unearth much -- he's gay, he didn't want to put it all out there during the Idol competition, he played dress-up as a kid. There is a sentimental-piano-backed moment where his mom lovingly and casually talks about supporting her son throughout his life. I guess if I had to pick one highlight from the interview, it was the moment he provided hope for all the swooning tween girls unbothered by the fact that Adam likes boys: "I wouldn't ever give myself the label bisexual, but bi-curious, yeah. I've been known to make out with girls from time to time. Couple drinks involved, you know, it's fun. And who knows, maybe it'll go further someday, I dunno. Who's the lucky woman..." Keep those gals-a-gushin'. Smart move, Glambert.

Adam Lambert: "A Weight Has Been Lifted off My Shoulders"

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert doesn't have any regrets about coming out in the new issue of Rolling Stone.

"I'm really happy with it. The cover looks great. It was great working with [photographer] Matthew Rolston," he told Usmagazine.com Thursday at L.A.'s Skingraft boutique. "And the title - 'The Liberation of Adam Lambert' - I do feel liberated. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders."

The 27-year-old singer - who has copped to having a crush on Idol champ Kris Allen - told Rolling Stone that he had been living as a gay man in L.A. for the past eight years. He never declared his sexual orientation on Idol because he felt it would have been "so sensationalized that it would overshadow what I was there to do, which was sing."

"It's not like I was holding back before," Lambert explained to Us Thursday. "I was being myself, but it's nice to have everything out in the open."
